KZSC Charts for the Week of April 28th, 2009

By Music Director | Published April 28th, 2009

This week’s charts were wonderful as well, but I am super psyched on this week’s adds in the radio 200 world.  Akron/Family’s newest album, Set ‘Em Wild, Set ‘Em Free has been tearing up KZSC since their show at the Brookdale in March, and now it’s officially tearing up the airwaves.  Somewhere between psychedelia, rock,…

A thank you!

Special thanks to Boston’s Pretty and Nice who came and spun some tracks on KZSC this Saturday. Holden, Jeremy, Bo and Tuck picked out some McCartney, some They Might Be Giants, and spun a bunch of tracks off of their album Get Young, which is available on Hardly Art. They also ate some tacos enthusiastically….

Another DJ interview! Stephanie of Dancing Barefoot

By Music Director | Published April 8th, 2009

So, I’m sitting here in a small padded room with Stephanie Callas, DJ of the KZSC Radio juggernaut known as Dancing Barefoot.  (The girl, not the dude in the slug suit)  Let’s start with some questions about Patti Smith.   What’s your favorite Patti Smith cover photograph? Definitely Horses, because she looks the hottest in…

Rainy day recommendations

By Music Director | Published April 7th, 2009

A couple record recommendations for the gloom and the grey: Mount Eerie (with Julie Doiron and Fred Squire), Lost Wisdom.  A record built upon a wire connected between two voices and two hearts, it hangs on a gorgeous simple open precipice for 25 minutes.  Inviting, soft melodies between two voices that can sing so simply…
