here’s a small writeup about the band from our new RPM Director, Daniel Shockley:

Black Moth Super Rainbow is one of those bands that has created a unique sound and made it totally and unmistakably their own. Sure, they have your standard percussion. Guitar, strings. Vocals. Even the occasional flute. But then they pipe it all through several layers of computerized, vocoder-y goodness and luscious synths. Nothing is spared computerizing treatment, especially the vocals which are voxed and reverbed to the point where they are barely comprehensible as a human voice – and really, it doesn’t matter. The vocals become just as much of an instrument as the music itself and helps to contribute the overall pensive feeling the band is able to evoke. And yet, through all this, they still maintain a catchy pop sensibility – listening, you’ll suddenly start to find yourself tapping your toes to the most peculiar sounds. Infectious hooks work their way into your brain and you might just find yourself singing along with yourself in class or on the bus. When combined with their already distinctive sound, Black Moth Super Rainbow is really one of those bands that will earn a rightful place in the archives of your heart and mind.

Sunday. 4-6. Metamusic Records. Alright!
