Retribution

Strike Back indeed. The charts are chalked full of metalicious goodness. Shadows Fall has a new song out featuring Randy Blythe of Lamb of God. See what we got…
1 THE AUTUMN OFFERING Requiem [Victory] – This cd is definitely a step in a better direction from their older cds, with more technical guitar playing and stronger vocals Requiem is definitely a cd worth a listen.
2 ANAKA The Glorified Crusade [Godsend] – The leader singer may look a little like a guido, but he doesn’t sound like one. Another good cd by Anaka.
3 DIVINE HERSEY Bringer of Plagues [Century Media] – This is the first cd from Divine Hersey with their new vocalist and bassist and let me tell you, they add a lot to the band. This is a legit speed-death-metal band.
4 AUGUST BURNS RED Constellations [Solid State] – A metalcore band with interesting tempo shifts and heavy breakdowns. Interesting story about the band, the band’s name was derived from a story in which the lead singer’s ex-girlfriend named August, burned his dog Redd alive in his doghouse the day after the broke up. Very sad story, a warning to anybody trying to hook up with groupies of this genre.
5 SHADOWS FALLKing Of Nothing” (Single) [Ferret] – What can I say, this sounds very… shadows fall-sy. Hardcore heavy guitar riffs, and the unique and distinct voice of Brian Fair.

New to the charts this week are Darkest Hour and Bury Your Dead. I can’t stress enough how badass The Eternal Return is. The band just finished up the Summer Slaughter Tour, which I regrettably missed. Bury Your Dead‘s cd is the one that made me give the band a serious listen and they have a more melodic approach on this album, with the clean vocals and the heavy-shredding they are a force to be reckoned with.

Coming to Santa Cruz:

Chimaira – 08/16 – Santa Cruz, CA @ The Catalyst w/ Hatebreed, Winds of Plague, Dying Fetus, Toxic Holocaust

Hatebreed isn’t one of my favorite bands but Winds of Plaugue is sick, Chimaira is heavy and Dying Fetus is brutal. I haven’t listened to much Toxic Holocaust. I will report back on them next week.

That’s all folks
