We’re sorry to say- the end of an age.

As a few of you may have heard, one of our dear student DJs, Austin Plummer died last Sunday
in a mountain climbing accident at Yosemite. DJ Austintacious hosted the glam rock fabulous show “Boys Like Girls” last Spring and “Stuck in the Garage”, a garage rock show this summer. He was a wonderful addition to our station and we’re all very sorry to see him go so soon. This Thursday on the regularly scheduled Stuck in the Garage, we’ll be airing some highlights from previous shows of his, playing some songs in his memory, and wishing him a peaceful journey on.

If you are a friend or family member of Austin and would like to share a few words with our listeners, I encourage you to contact us at [email protected] or call-in to the show as it airs.

With love,

KZSC

  1. Austin was a great DJ…he’s spinning discs for more souls now.

  2. God bless your soul and I’ll see you on the other side, my friend…

  3. We will miss your smooth voice sense of humor and creativity.Your flame flashed before our eyes but no one had as much flash as you.

  4. He was my oldest friend, he will be missed.

  5. I knew Austin from high school and we both ended up in Santa Cruz as well. He was a great guy and he will be missed.

  6. This is so sad. He had great taste. TEARS.

  7. Thank you for another chance to hear Austin.

  8. I miss him. Austin was a great guy, those who knew him love him and miss him very much. Is there a recording of the Stuck In The Garage show? I would really like to listen to it, I didn’t know about it..

  9. I’m so sorry to hear this.

I had no idea whatsoever that there was a real dj like a REAL REAL dj as in a person who was called Austin Plummer. My name is Agustin, and I’m from Latin America…for some time now I’ve been using the alias “Austin Plummer” as my “made up” dj alias.

I’m really sorry to hear about his passing away though I’ve gotta admit that I never heard of him. Wow…. I feel as if i should like change my alias or something.

my regrets to his friends and family.

    may he rest in heaven.

    • Thank you for your post Agustin. Austin was my son. My family is devasted by his accident and death. I have a copy of his final radio show tribute and would be happy to mail you a copy, where ever you are, you took the time to say something kind and we appreciate that. Please let me know if you would like to hear the music, and tributes, to Austin “DJ Austintacious” Plummer. Renee.

      • Dear Plummer Family,

We still think often of Austin. He’s with us in spirit always.

        • Hi Michael, two plus years and it feels like yesterday. Is the Mic still being used?
I have told several of Austin’s friends to check it out. We are trying to figure out
what to do with our personal record collection. Maybe 5,000 LPs; would the station
          ever consider such a gift?

          • Hi Renee,

Yes, the beautiful microphone is our main one, and it provides “the voice” most listeners hear on KZSC. I think of Austin often when I talk into it.

If you would like to donate your album collection to KZSC, we would consider it an honor.
Thank you from everyone at KZSC.

            -Michael

  10. I miss him so much. Best wishes to the Plummer family.

  11. I was a floor mate of Austin’s at College Ten in 2007. Hands down one of the most intelligent and well rounded people that I have come across to this day. There wasn’t a subject that I couldn’t talk to Austin about.

I still have the card that the Plummer family graciously made and handed out at his memorial on campus. The quote which was placed on the card embodies Austin and his spirit to the T, “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night, and in between does what he wants to do.” – Dylan.

It has been a little over two years and I still can’t believe it. Austin was the first friend that I had ever lost. To the Plummer family, I still pray for you all and hope that you know that Austin will never be forgotten.May you Rest In Peace brotha. Until I see you again my friend.
