Elena Rossman is taking the local music scene by storm. Rossman, a UC Santa Cruz junior and Santa Cruz native, has been playing guitar and writing music since she was 13 years old. She just released her five song EP, The Wind Shift, recorded at Gadgetbox Studios in Santa Cruz. The EP features Rossman’s melodic acoustic guitar playing and singing accompanied with bass, electric guitar, lap steel and drums. Rossman wrote all songs on the EP, reminiscent of Alela Diane, Neko Case and The Be Good Tanyas. The Wind Shift can be purchased at Streetlight Records or at her next show at the Asana Tea House in downtown Santa Cruz on May 14th. Check out her music at www.myspace.com/elenarmusica.
