The witty Kate Nash is back with her sophomore release My Best Friend Is You from Geffen Records. Nash continues to charm listeners with her sarcastic, witty lyrics and catchy melodies, reminiscent of the hits “Foundations “and “Merry Happy” from debut release Made of Bricks. As a bonus surprise, My Best Friend Is You has some more rock than pop tracks, including the grungy “I Just Love You More”, which features distorted guitars and Nash shrieking like a rockstar. The best part about Nash are her simple lyrics that say just what you were thinking that one night at the bar but were too afraid to say. In the track “Do-Wah-Doo”, Nash sings “Every guy is checking out her thighs/Everyone thinks that girl’s a lady/But I don’t I think that girl’s shady.” My Best Friend Is You is a pleasant surprise and hard evidence that Nash isn’t a one-hit album wonder.
