Pink Floyd Gone Dub…

Released in 2003, “Dub Side of the Moon” is a dub/reggae tribute to the 1973 Pink Floyd album, “Dark Side of the Moon”. More than just capitalizing on the popularity of the original (claimed has sold more than 45 million copies), “Dub Side” was a natural fit for the reggae treatement. Filled with philosophical quotations, sound effects and great female backup singing, Floyd’s 8th studio album also moves at a pace not unlike the music of Jamaica. Easy Star All Star band members Ticklah and Michael G produced “Dub Side of the Moon” in 2003, including some twists such as the cash register opening and closing on “Money” changed to a man firing up a bong. Then there’s the oft-discussed “Dark Side of the Rainbow” effect-the supposed secret link between the the film “The Wizard of Oz” and “Dark Side of the Moon”. Easy All Stars made it easy to play along by including instructions on how to synchronize the album in their liner notes.

Check it out for yourself this morning on KZSC’s reggae program “All Fruits Ripe” when we will feature “Dub Side of the Moon” in its entirety.
