Love Reigns Valentines Day

Who’s awake on Monday morning at 6 AM? Correct. To start your Valentines Day, KZSC will air The Who’s Quadrophenia. The name is a variation on a popular usage of the medical diagnostic term for schizophrenia; Pete Townsend used this to reflect the 4 distinct personalities of Jimmy, the story’s protagonist—each said to represent the personality of one member of The Who. Almost 40 years after its release, Townsend says “the music is the best music that I’ve ever written  I think, and it’s the best album that I will ever write.” Dark days were ahead for Who drummer Keith Moon, who passed out onstage in San Francisco during the first live performance of Quadrophenia in the United States.

Lyrics from the song “Love Reign O’er Me” start with “Only love/Can make it rain/The way the beach is kissed by the sea”. How can you top that in Surf City on Valentine’s Day? Tune in for Quadrophenia Monday, February 14th beginning at 6 AM.
