The Dry Branch Fire Squad is a veteran bluegrass band founded in 1976, led by mandolin player and master of dry wit, Ron Thomason. Other current members include Brian Aldridge on guitar, Tom Boyd on banjo, and Dan Russell on bass. Their latest of a dozen releases over the decades demonstrates they’ve only gotten better with age, with stellar a capella gospel singing, original songs, straight forward hard core traditional bluegrass numbers, and songs with an old-time feel. If you’ve never experienced Ron Thomason’s droll and hilarious commentary during their shows, you’ve missed out on some serious fun.
