One of America’s greatest Irish fiddlers, Liz Carroll, will be in concert Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 7:00pm at Don Quixote’s, 6275 Highway 9, Felton, CA., presented by the Celtic Society of the Monterey Bay. Liz’s astounding musicianship was confirmed by winning both Junior and Senior All-Ireland Fiddle Championships in the past. Since then, she has won a National Heritage Award, played for President Obama’s entertainment for St. Patrick’s Day in the Capitol Building, was nominated last year for a Grammy in the Best Traditional World Music Album category for her duet album with John Doyle (“Double Play”), and just this past January bagged Ireland’s Gradam Ceoil award for Best Traditional Composer of the Year, rarely given to someone not native to Ireland. Liz is a prolific writer of unique and wonderful tunes in the Irish tradition, and will be celebrating the release of her book ‘”Collected,” a compilation of some 185 of her original tunes with accompanying background stories of their origins.
