The Internet has been abuzz of late with news that another religious group has set down the due date for Judgement Day. This time it’s May 21st, 2011 (At least I can finish this blog in time). Lucky for all of us the track record on this kind of prediction, is zero percent; case in point the Millerites. So why mention things of a spiritual nature in a blog for the World Music Dept.? The answer is that, the original title for this posting was going to be…
“Many are called but few are chosen” But suddenly I thought to myself, I’d better run that sentence through a web search. Lo and behold! It’s biblical; Matthew 22:14. In this case you don’t need to look it up for a deeper/hidden meaning. It’s just that a fellow KZSC staff member suggested that I run for the position of Station Librarian at The Great 88 and yes, it has come to pass. I’ve been elected for a one-year term beginning next month. All of which was done without having to know anyone in the biblical sense I might add. As such, I will soon leave you as the interim World Music Director for this spring quarter, only to reemerge as the new librarian with the start of summer (assuming we don’t perish on the 21st). After collecting for some 40+ years, we have a great musical archive at KZSC and there is much to tell my friends.
