Back Home At KZSC

I admit to loving the less traveled roads of the world and of the mind. Every Sunday from 6-9 am on KZSC you can travel the oft neglected pathways of consciousness on Conciliation Sunday. And yes, that’s a very cool and intriguing ‘trip’ to be on even though it’s not the ’60′s’ anymore. Okay, to some of us those golden days can never be exorcised. I recently returned from visiting a dear friend in Finland and I’m again reminded of what an escape from normal routine does for one’s ‘mind, body, spirit, and emotions’. It’s usually a big recharging experience, especially if this means visiting an arctic country that has 187,888 lakes and 179,584 islands. Nearly 100,000 of these islands are located in lakes. Mind blowing to say the least! And that got me thinking about our KZSC library just teeming with songs and musicians, wondering how many are stored in our cherished station. But the numbers don’t really matter if a person is incapable, or unwilling to take the time to appreciate the lake in front of them, or the song being played on the radio. I’m not of that ilk. Before leaving on a trip I see familiar surroundings with new eyes knowing I’ll miss the old stomping grounds. When I’m in virgin territory my senses are piqued by all the original stimuli. Then upon coming back home it’s as if I’ve never really appreciated where I lived until now. Amazing! And that’s how it is as I write this entry, feeling so very happy to know KZSC exists for all of us. While appreciating the great honor of doing a program that excites me every time I sit down in the DJ chair, as an adventurer into the Unknown, with the KZSC ‘Conciliation Sunday’ listeners on board trusting me at the wheel. It’s so sweet to be back home.
