The Frank Wakefield Band will be performing at an intimate house concert on the Westside of Santa Cruz, CA on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 7:30pm. Frank has been playing bluegrass mandolin for decades, and has performed with many of the top-notch bands, including Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys, Jimmy Martin & The Sunny Mountain Boys, and his own band of Good Ole Boys. Frank sang and played with Red Allen, creating some of the classic sound of early bluegrass. He also spent time mentoring David Grisman on the mandolin.  Frank’s humor is one-of-a-kind, and always entertaining. He’s been declared a living legend by the International Bluegrass Music Association, and has composed many an innovative tune. His latest CD release is a tribute to Bill Monroe, so expect plenty of mandolin fireworks, and some Monroe songs at the concert. Joining Frank will be Jim Lewin (guitar), Luke Abbott (banjo and resonator guitar), and Louise Mintun (bass). For reservations and location contact Steve <[email protected]>.
