Quadrophenia on KZSC

Who’s awake on Tuesday mornings at 6 AM? Correct.  To celebrate the expanded remastered release, KZSC will feature The Who’s Quadrophenia on Triple Decker Tuesday. The name is a variation on a popular usage of the medical diagnostic term for schizophrenia; Pete Townsend used this to reflect the 4 distinct personalities of Jimmy, the story’s protagonist—each said to represent the personality of one member of The Who. 40 years after its release, Townsend says “the music is the best music that I’ve ever written  I think, and it’s the best album that I will ever write.” Dark days were ahead for Who drummer Keith Moon, who passed out onstage in San Francisco during the first live performance of Quadrophenia in the United States.

Lyrics from the song “Love Reign O’er Me” start with “Only love/Can make it rain/The way the beach is kissed by the sea”. How can you top that in Surf City? Tune in for Quadrophenia Tuesday, December 6th beginning at 6 AM.
