What better way to bring in the new year then going to a concert? 2011 brought us great concerts in Santa Cruz like The Pixies, Weird Al Yankovic, Sharon Jones and the Dapp Kings, Animal Collective, Andrew Bird, and for that we are thankful, but 2012 is looking very promising as well
. If you really want to start your new year right, you will want to be going to any or all of these upcoming shows.
Next Thursday January 5th, the Catalyst will be having the band STRFKR. If you like indie bands with electronic influences (think Air’s ‘Moon Safari’ album) then this show is the one for you! Playing on the 6th at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center will be Americana singer-songwriter Rita Hosking . Also on the 6th at The Crepe Place, local band The Wild Ones will take you back to better times with their retro garage punk sound (think Shangri-Las meets The Ramones).
