RIP Etta James ( January 25, 1938 – January 20, 2012). As my personal musical fairy godmother I will always remember Etta as a great woman and artist. Most noted for the song ‘At Last’, she sang it all – gospel, pop, soul, jazz and even some great funk music.
She was beautiful person who left behind a great collection of songs. Some of my favorites include covers of tunes like ‘I Just Want to Make Love to You’ and Sonny & Cher’s ‘I Got You Babe’, ‘Soul of a Man’, ‘Mean Mother’ and so many more. You’ll continue to hear Etta James on iPods, record players and radio stations like KZSC forever.
