UC Santa Cruz’s 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Convocation was held at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium on February 2nd with special guest speaker Nikki Giovanni. Giovanni is a world-renowned poet, writer, commentator, activist, and educator. One of the most widely read American poets, she prides herself on being, “a Black American, a daughter, a mother and an educator”. The show I saw with actor Daniel Beaty was the best entertainment I have seen here in Santa Cruz! He is adorable and an amazing storytelling! His Knock knock! made me cry..and shows the pain of not having a father while growing up. His performance brings HOPE! PEACE AND HARMONY! which our nation needs right now. Thank you, Daniel.
