Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation with Nikki Giovanni

UC Santa Cruz’s 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Convocation was held at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium on February 2nd with special guest speaker Nikki Giovanni. Giovanni is a world-renowned poet, writer, commentator, activist, and educator. One of the most widely read American poets, she prides herself on being, “a Black American, a daughter, a mother and an educator”.  She remains as determined and committed as ever to the fight for civil rights and equality.     The show I saw with actor Daniel Beaty was the best entertainment I have seen here in Santa Cruz! He is adorable and an amazing storytelling! His Knock knock! made me cry..and shows the pain of not having a father while growing up. His performance brings HOPE! PEACE AND HARMONY! which our nation needs right now. Thank you, Daniel.
