Sweet Sound of Silence

You may know Daniel Rossen from his work with Dept. of Eagles and Grizzly Bear. Upon hearing that Rossen will be releasing solo material, one may assume lush, thoughtful melodies, and that’s exactly what Rossen delivers on his new E.P., Silent Hour/Golden Mile, out on March 20th. The songs on this little E.P. are even more beautiful than expected; they are haunting, personal folk tunes that seem both monumental, and familiar. “Saint Nothing” is piano-driven and somewhat tense. “Golden Mile” is a waltz that includes signature Grizzly Bear harmonies, and features drum work by Dr. Dog’s Eric Slick. You can listen to the Beatles-esque “Silent Song” here.
