Oh, the places you’ll go!

The umbrella term of World Music can be pretty daunting, especially for someone who is just getting into the genre, and has no idea where to start. What even constitutes world music anyways?  While it is a term that is known to encompass both traditional and contemporary forms of music from different countries and cultures around the world, we have seen an exponential increase in the hybridization and fusion between different subsets of the world music genre in recent years. Yes indeed, the melting pot has melted! While listening to our world music programming on KZSC, you are sure to find something that tickles your fancy. On the Great 88, we strive play a wide variety of world music subgenres – from traditional Hawaiian island songs to African Sub-Saharan classic rock, to even heavy metal Flamenco! We work everyday to bring an eclectic and flavorful mix of world music to our listeners as they tune in and transport across the globe.
