May is New Years Eve for KZSC

May 15th marked the date when The Great 88 had our biggest election for a number of student Governing Board positions; all of which start in June and carry on into 2013.  This new group will have their first meeting to chart the destiny of KZSC this weekend. Their two slogans for 2013? “This IS our year” and “Don’t waste my time”. Looks like we’re off to a good start.

June is also the month when our seniors graduate from UCSC. As we gain new DJs and new leadership, we (and our listeners) also lose a number of the best, brightest & most dedicated students we’ve ever had, some who joined KZSC in their freshman year. I guess that this is the place where I say,”my how time flies” but I’d prefer to say that ‘time’ is something we are falling into, not away from.  With that in mind, Happy New Year!  June is our January.  It’s how this college radio station marks time every year.

The Savage - 25 years on the West Coast, but he still has the East Coast attitude to carry him through, even if the caffeine fails him at times. The long-time host of Unfiltered Camels, David Anton Savage, is now well into an extensive revamp of the library here at KZSC and hopes to be done by June of 2013. Wish him luck, because the fruits of his labor could mean more sweet music to your ears. Stay tuned.
