Bay Area vocalist Kat Parra helps preserve a rare cultural treasure of the Sephardic diaspora, the Ladino language. An antiquated form of Castilian that includes Arabic, Hebrew and Turkish, Ladino is spoken in very few places today – mainly by older generations in Turkey, Israel and scattered homes across the globe. Besides Ladino, Kat performs in English, Spanish and Portuguese too. Whether her inflections are Afro-Cuban, samba with a hip-hop flair, Latin jazz or salsa, when Kat Parra sings, it’s always “con sabor (flavorful)”.  Kat Parra will perform for the Jewish Food and Cultural Fair Sunday, June 9th at Temple Beth El in Aptos.
