Over their long strange strip the Grateful Dead frequented Berkeley’s Greek Theatre. Even past the band’s tenure original members have made their way back to the charming ampitheatre often. Phil Lesh and Bob Weir continue this tradition on September 27-29 when they will return to the Greek with their most recent Dead related project Furthur. In addition toe Lesh and Weir Furthur features top rate musicians with Jeff Chimenti on keyboards, Joe Russo on drums, and Jerry sound alike John Kadlecik playing guitar. Be sure to check out one two or all of these and I’ll see ya in the lot!

The Breeders played their first show together during the summer of 1992 in a snooker hall behind Warrington Rugby Club in the north of England. Two days later, they supported Nirvana in Dublin and Belfast and played at the gigantic Glastonbury Festival. After playing sold-out shows that fall, they made their way to San Francisco to record “Last Splash”. The album was a huge success, propelled in part by a music video directed by Spike Jonze. They played their last show in September of 1994…until now. To commemorate the release of a deluxe anniversary edition of “Last Splash” The Breeders are touring together again, performing the album live. Catch The Breeders Monday, August 26th at The Rio in Santa Cruz. Showtime will be 8 pm.
In 1965 Roger Kynard Erickson penned his most famous composition, “You’re Gonna Miss Me”. Originally recorded with a group called The Spades, lyricist and jug player Tommy Hall heard it and invited him to join (and record) a version with Texas garage rock/psychedelic band The 13th Floor Elevators. Roky Erickson and the Elevators became a national sensation in 1966, with a renewed interest in the 80’s when the “Nuggets” collection included the hit. His legacy continues in person at Don Quixote’s in Felton on Wednesday, August 21st. Showtime is 9 pm.
