Hard to imagine that spring is already winding down, but there are a scant six weeks or so left before thoughts of graduation, summer vacations and doing laundry will become reality. Take the time to explore some of the new shows on The Great 88 while you can including a wide variety of late-night offerings. And if you like rockin’ to your old favorites, make sure you let us know.
See the complete current spring lineup on our Schedule Page and unwind with KZSC.
If the entire city of Gridley in Butte County voted for KZSC it would be impressive, however an equal amount of ballots came in to the Santa Cruz Good Times during their 2013 “Best Of” voting. With over 6,500 votes cast, the people of Santa Cruz (and possibly Gridley) have spoken. “Best Radio Station” honors went to The Great 88. To those who voted for KZSC, we thank you for your good taste. Keep listening while we polish our gold star.
KZSC recently hosted the UC Radio Network (UCRN) student broadcaster conference, a mostly harmonic convergence of California college radio stations including KDVS/UC Davis, KALX/UC Berkeley, KCSB/UC Santa Barbara, Bobcat Radio/UC Merced and others. We’ve never seen so many Warby Parker glasses and Yo La Tengo shirts in one place before. When you get a bunch of radio goobers together, you can only expect them to goober together. Special thanks to guest speakers medial law attorney Michael Couzens, filmmaker Eric Christensen (“The Cover Story: Album Art“), Eva Papp of Spinitron and UCSC Catering. Take a peek at some of the folks who attended and their opinions on how UCRN benefits college radio – which benefits you as a listener. Make sure to watch it in HD (no special glasses needed).
Listening to the radio is no picnic-unless you’re tuned in to KZSC’s new spring schedule. Every day offers a smorgasbord of music delights-60’s garage & surf, blues, gypsy carnival songs, drive-in movie soundtracks and who knows what. Plus a realignment of many of your favorite shows at new days and times. With programming this hot, you may want another layer of sunblock. Check out the new program schedule starting Monday, April 15th on KZSC.
