Fall Fundraiser Finish Line Ahead!

Everyone at The Great 88 is crowing about the Fall On-Air Fundraiser. As you can see, we’re heading to the finish line with our beaks held high. Speaking of which, take a peek at the new KZSC RADIO ROOSTER SHIRT, in honor of our 45th year of broadcasting from UC Santa Cruz. Make a donation to support KZSC at 831-459-4036 or on our DONATE page and get one for your favorite rooster.

This is Hard!

Our staff tried moving this last weekend at UC Santa Cruz…sorry if that was your car down below. But we wanted to make a point: if we all push together, we can move mountains. Right now The Great 88 is pushing through our Fall On-Air Fundraiser, raising awareness about the need to keep community radio alive and well with listener support.

We hope you want to help. You can DONATE HERE. And for those of you who do, You Rock!

Polly Wants A Pledge Drive

Our feathered friend is calling KZSC. They always play her Counting Crows and Byrds requests; now it’s time to return the favor. Pretty Polly is right. If you tune in for local talk and music shows on The Great 88, we trust you’ll fly to your phone during our Fall On-Air Fundraiser and donate too. Starting Monday, October 22nd, we’ll be interrupting our regular programming to remind everyone that community radio cannot survive without financial support from those who listen. And we will try to keep the squawking to a minimum. Don’t have a trained bird handy to make your call? Move your mouse to our DONATE PAGE.

Sydney 1

Programmer of the Month

Meet DJ Syd the Kid, host of our new “Blue Moon Boulevard” show. Syd’s a UCSC senior who spent last year studying in Berlin, Germany. Besides being fond of Franz Kafka (her major is Literature), Syd really digs big band swing music. She reminds us that Kafka once said, “Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old”. Find out more between 9 AM and noon every Monday during her beautiful big band music program on The Great 88, KZSC and stay young.

Fixed!

KZSC can sometimes perform magic. We needed to do some extensive electrical work at our tower site today and, expecting the worst, we thought it would be heavy lifting until dark. Our crack engineering staff (Thank You Don Mussell!) made short work of the project, so we are back live on the air as of noon October 20th.

Thanks for your understanding; now you know why we have pledge drives.
