Everyone knows surfing started in Hawaii but when it came to the mainland, it came and stayed in Santa Cruz. KZSC’s Hawaiian surfing shirt is the best of both worlds. Remember: “Wiki Wiki” means fast. Get your summer shirts, canvas totes and other Great 88 goodies now inside our KZSC Summer Store.
The brutal truth is this: there’s a lot of stuff in your life that needs to get moved out the door and down the road and KZSC is no exception. We have a fantastic music collection that has grown (or groan!) over four decades. But this also means that there are quite a few records that are warped, cracked, chipped, badly scratched or just plain worn out. My mission is to go through our library album by album and send the broken ones to vinyl heaven. They’ve been hiding in the shadows long enough and with shelf space at a premium I have to pull them all. So keep your eyes open at our Annual Music Sale coming in November…we promise an exceptional amount of vinyl for sale cheap. Plus you may come across some cool album covers-even if the LP is a little worse for wear.
In 1967 Andy Warhol produced the famous yellow banana sticker cover for The Velvet Underground & Nico’s album with “peel slowly and see” printed near the tip. Those who did remove the banana skin found a pink, peeled banana beneath. Since UC Santa Cruz is home to the Banana Slugs and KZSC, we thought this would be a cool tribute to the Underground and the year broadcasting spawned as an underground activity at UCSC. The Velvet Banana joins a bunch of other KZSC brand products on our Shop Site; available in all sizes.
The little radio station in the woods that you know and love opened our roadside Pledge Drive Store during March and loaded it with all kinds of music, DVDs, KZSC brand clothing and other goodies to choose from. Not only can you find cool stuff for yourself or others, but you’ll glad to know that all funds from purchases and donations go toward our operating costs for the next six months. Every once and a while we find a stray field mouse inside our roadside joint. Keep him company by sending your computer mouse running into the KZSC Pledge Drive Store today.
