Loud Rock Charts: 6/4

Break out the bongs. Psych/Stoner Metal band Thinning The Herd is leading this week’s adds for Loud Rock with the album Freedom From The Known St. Marks. Fans of old Black Sabbath, Annihilation Time, and Purple Mercy  should be adequately pleased with this finely crafted piece of music. Production quality and recording goes out to the man, the myth, Steve Albini himself so you know its going to be good. For an extra added bonus, check out their ridiculous music video for “Never Wanted”. STAY TRIPPY.

How rad are three-day weekends? Instead of putting off work until Sunday, everyone gets an extra day to regret not doing a single productive thing. Now that you’re well rested, you can check out this week’s new music! Remember The Locust? Even better, remember when current Retox vocalist, Justin Pearson, pulled the best gag on reality TV?

Fans of any past Pearson projects  (music and pranks alike) or just good Punk/Hardcore, be sure to check out Retox’s new album YPLL. If you can, be sure to catch this band live and hopefully you can come close to breaking your nose like I almost did last time they came around.

Loud Rock Charts: 5/21

After getting beaten and bruised at the Dillinger Escape Plan show, it was nice to take some time off and relax to some of the new releases slated for this week. Fans of Orchid (Doom Metal band not Screamo band, but that would be rad if they had a new album) will be pleased with their latest release. Slow rockin’, headbangin’, doomy metal was the perfect way to fix my broken body. Now if you don’t mind I’m going drift into the catatonic dream state this album will you in and hope I never wake up.

Her recent recording of the album “RED” with her quartet is certainly something worth listening to. We completed a studio interview last week, which should air on my show Stirrin’ the Soup on Thursday 2-4pm.
Sarah has already played some of the greatest venues in NYC, including Dizzy’s, the Blue Note and the Iridium. Her expression doesn’t stop at RED- I’m told that there is more to look forward to the end of this year and the the following. As usual, the jazz/blues department at KZSC is committed to keeping things fresh…We are receiving nothing but the newest recordings from all over the country and we want to spin them for YOU!
