Jazz Adds & Charts: Third Week of June

Sweat out that warm summer Santa Cruz heat with some cool jazz at the Great 88. I’m excited to have some greats come into the station from Grammy award winning vocalist Gregory Porter to rock icon Ginger Baker. I anticipate great things. As for charts, ladies still seem to be holding the top spots in the midst of some great company.  Keep cool, cats.

While I am very excited that the Antlers released a new record, it is nowhere near as amazing as their last two. Their previous records, Hospice and Burst Apart, set a very high bar for Familiars. While there are plenty of good songs on the record it is not as consistently great of an album as fans of the Antlers have come to expect from them. Here is one of the stand out tracks, Surrender.

I’m really excited about this new Parquet Courts album. It is a great followup to the ep they put out late last year entitled Tally All The Things That You Broke. I think this is a going to be a breakthrough album for this band and I’m looking forward to hearing it more on KZSC.
