Here’s a look at a few of the faces behind the new voices you’ll be hearing on The Great 88 starting January 21st. Our fall quarter broadcasting class came up with programming ideas so hot, we had to have them approved by the campus Fire Department. Besides the difference on the air, significant changes will be happening behind the microphone at KZSC in the year to come. More info as it happens appears on our KZSC Newsletter, along with contests for prizes in each edition. Want to know more about the prizes? Want to know more about KZSC? December is always extra special with The Beatles. It’s the only time of year you’ll hear their unique holiday fan messages recorded between 1963 and 1969. Another KZSC annual tradition: DJ Apple’s countdown the Top 20 most requested Beatles songs during the year on December 20th. The following week we celebrate the 45th anniversary (Boxing Day, Dec. 26, 1967) of the original broadcast of “Magical Mystery Tour” on BBC television with a radio documentary featuring commentary by Sir Paul McCartney. Join our radio holidays with The Beatles in December Thursdays between 6 and 9 A.M. on The Great 88, KZSC.
As we wind our way through the month of December, KZSC will be presenting some special stuff over the airwaves. Yes there will be “seasonal music” but keep an ear out for other surprises too. And in January our program schedule will morph once again, adding new student voices and shows that will start a New Year off on the good foot. Thanks for listening and supporting The Great 88 in 2012; get ready for the new KZSC in 2013!
Celebrating 50 years as a band, The Rolling Stones played an incredible night at London’s O2. Bringing out favorites from five decades, they proved to be still able to rock it. Here’s a sample: an extended version of “Midnight Rambler” featuring former 70’s Stones lead guitarist Mick Taylor.
