Big news for UC students: Dani, host of Lost Minds and Found Sound, is going to be throwing a gaggle of free shows on campus next quarter. This is supppppper exciting for us and for you. And thanks to our secondary audio stream, we’ll be able to broadcast all of that goodness from us directly to you!
The first show is going to be January 16th at 7pm. Details are coming up, but we can tell you that LITTLE TEETH are going to be playing. Check their space: http://www.myspace.com/littleteethmusic. I’ve been a big fan of Little Teeth for quite a while now, so this is suuuuper exciting. I saw them play in NY (remember this?) and they were wonderful, so please, if you’re student, plan on making this!
Also, local bands? KZSC really wants to show off all the amazing local music we have here in Santa Cruz.
So, if you’re a band and want to play contact Dani (firstname.lastname@example.org)
As 2009 winds down, California faces some big problems. The economy, education, cuts in services…is there any good news? Find out when Talkabout host John Sandidge asks Assemblyman John Laird. They will take your questions and phone calls live and make some bold predictions for 2010. Talkabout airs Wednesday evenings at 7 on KZSC.
The Easy Star All-Stars’ stunning reinvention of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” spent over three years on the Billboard reggae charts. The recording also features guest vocal appearances by Frankie Paul, The Meditations and sound effects from The Wizard of Oz (of course). Hear the complete recording Tuesday, December 15th during the “Rocking Vibrations” reggae program, 9-noon on KZSC.
A warning is in store for those of you who have warmed up to some new shows this quarter: it is finals week here at UCSC, so many of your favorite programmers may be taking of for winter break! What’s that mean? It means listen in this week to say your goodbyes, and for the weeks to come expect the old shows with a twist: new DJs! It’s pretty exciting to see how themes change when someone else takes over. Expect the unexpected, love the twisted new changes. If you’re feeling very into the holiday mood, remember: KZSC’s second webstream is playing nonstop holiday music!
All the best in finals and holiday travels!
