Looking At A Glass Onion…

DJ Prudence displays her artwork, a painting entitled “Glass Onion”. It’s her re-imagining of the classic Lennon song from The White Album. This one-of-a-king piece will be offered today on The Beatles’ “Here, There & Everywhere” program, along with other Fab Four thank you gifts and of course your requests. Thursday mornings without George, Paul, Ringo and John would not be the same…call in during our Pledge Drive, 831-459-2811 or DONATE online to support community radio and this program.

Calling All Cars…

Broadcasting music from the UC Santa Cruz campus started back in 1967. As you can see from the picture, we faced some pretty stiff competition back then. Technology has marched on in the last four decades but The Great 88 remains a resource for local talk and fine music. KZSC asks that if you have a push button set on your car radio for 88.1 FM, a bookmark for kzsc.org or if you’re exploring our programming for the first time that you consider making a donation to keep us going.

KZSC is sponsored by listeners; you can help by calling in now during our  ON-AIR FUNDRAISER at 831-459-4036 or by Giving Now. Buckle up and stay tuned for the fun we put into fundraising for The Great 88!

Time Change

Everyone springs forward an hour Sunday, March 10th. And while we’re looking ahead, don’t forget St. Patrick’s Day is March 17th, National Frozen Food Day is March 6th and the KZSC On-Air Pledge Drive begins Saturday, March 2nd. The Great 88 remains great with support from our listeners. Did we mention National Panic Day is March 9th? Scratch that off your calendar by calling in a donation to KZSC at 831-459-4733 or at our website’s DONATE PAGE. No matter the hour, it’s time to support community radio!

KZSC: The Movie

To help celebrate another year of broadcasting radio from the UC Santa Cruz campus, here’s a fine mini-documentary on The Great 88. Directed and produced by UCSC alum Marc Atkinson, it’s a pretty good snapshot of the staff and philosophy of KZSC. SEE IT HERE.

[Parental Warning: contains one word we cannot say on the radio and some serious air guitar playing]

The Future Of KZSC

Here’s a look at a few of the faces behind the new voices you’ll be hearing on The Great 88 starting January 21st. Our fall quarter broadcasting class came up with programming ideas so hot, we had to have them approved by the campus Fire Department. Besides the difference on the air, significant changes will be happening behind the microphone at KZSC in the year to come. More info as it happens appears on our KZSC Newsletter, along with contests for prizes in each edition. Want to know more about the prizes? Want to know more about KZSC?
