The Santa Cruz Bluegrass Society presents the 24th Annual Santa Cruz Bluegrass Fair this Saturday, May 1, Noon-5:00pm at the Duck Pond Stage in San Lorenzo Park, downtown Santa Cruz. This free event kicks off International Bluegrass Month (May) featuring performances by five bands (Harmony Grits, Mountain Drive, Down Beets, Family Hogwash, Faux Renwah) and plenty of space for jamming. Bring instruments, a lawn chair or blanket, a hat and sunscreen. Bluegrass music is featured regularly at KZSC on Backroads, Sundays noon-2pm.
Mary McCaslin and Steve Palazzo will be playing live on Backroads from Noon-2pm this coming Sunday, April 11. Mary is a folk singer extraordinaire (and former KZSC DJ!) and has returned home to Santa Cruz after completing a national tour. She’ll be joined by Steve Palazzo, local flatpicking guitar guru and singer with the bluegrass band Homefire. They’re both participating in the Fiddling Cricket Acoustic music series at The Ugly Mug in Soquel next week.
Attention bluegrass lovers:
Tomorrow’s beloved Backroads show will be honoring the fact that it’s awards season by airing the 20th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards Show. The show will feature performances by The Grascals, Dale Ann Bradley, Dailey & Vincent, Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin) and lots lots more.
Tune in this (and every) Sunday from 12-2pm!
