The First Annual Seabright Stringfest will be held at the Seabright Brewery and Java Junction in the Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz on Saturday, February 11th from 11:30am-11:30pm. Yep, that’s right – 12 continuous hours of music (plus a square dance) starting with a kids show by Bob Reid and followed by a cavalcade of bluegrass, old-time string band, Celtic, and other associated traditional string genres. See fiddlersjam.com for details about this free event. Don’t miss an opportunity to hear some hand-crafted local music with the possibility of having perhaps a hand-crafted beverage to go with it.
The Crooked Jades (SF Bay Area) and The Water Tower Bucket Boys (Portland, OR) will be in concert Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Don Quixote’s, 6275 Highway 9, Felton, CA., starting at 7:30pm, (831) 603-2294. Both bands play a blend of bluegrass, country, and old-time string band music, with fresh interpretations of older classics as well as original songs. The Water Tower Bucket Boys can lean a little further into rock and punk interpretations, but are still roots based.
Check the schedule for the 12th Annual San Francisco Bluegrass and Old-Time Festival, ongoing now through February 20, 2011 for other performances of these bands and scores of others.
