Bruce Bratton has a live interview with Lisa Uttal from the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, as well as Sally Green from the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County.
Summer is the perfect time to put on your dancing shoes and go see your favorite artists performing live. The Catalyst always hosts a great collection of bands, and this season is no different. Here are some of the upcoming shows that KZSC DJs are most psyched about:
Aesop Rock on August 30th, Steel Pulse/Future Islands September 3rd, Arsonists Get All The Girls September 7th, Against Me! on Spetember 9th, Odd Future September 28th, and Yelawolf on October 12th.
LGBTQ Public Affairs; news; new musical artist releases review; community calendar & announcements.
Some exciting news for our friends over at Criminal Records: the fine ladies in “basement rock” band The Kut have been chosen to play in Olympic Park on August 30th as part of the Paralympics festivities. It’s always awesome to see an all female band such as The Kut get some great opportunities to show that men aren’t the only source of talent in the rock/metal genre. If you want more information, head over to their facebook page and show them some love!
1 KATATONIA Dead End Kings Peaceville
2 OBEY THE BRAVE Young Blood Epitaph
3 OVER YOUR THRESHOLD Facticity
4 CHARIOT One Wing eOne
5 ENCRUST From Birth To Soil Density
Remember Beck’s “The Information?” The album that provided stickers so you could create your own cover? Well Beck is back and taking it one step further, with his new album featuring 20 songs of sheet music – and it’s up to YOU to bring them to life. Beck’s website describes “Song Reader [as] an experiment in what an album can be at the end of 2012—an alternative that enlists the listener in the tone of every track.” Keep an eye out for “Beck Hansen’s Song Reader” in December 2012. The album will be released by McSweeny’s, a San Francisco publishing company.
John has Katie Purcell, Max & Kimberly Spooner on the show talking about open gardens and sailing adventure.
