PSA: the wait is over, XXL Magazine has finally revealed their 2019 Freshman Class!
Out of the 11 artists who made the final cut, the three most notable rappers (in my humble opinion) include Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, and Megan Thee Stallion: a powerfully badass trifecta. Since 2007 when XXL first began its freshman class tradition, there have only been nine women in total, including our three stars from 2019, that have been nominated and featured on the 11 magazine covers. And in the 12 years that XXL has been running this tradition, there has never been three ladies on the cover, so Rico, Tierra, and Megan have truly made this years cover legendary. In an extremely chauvinistic industry and a male-dominated genre like rap, moments like these are definitely worth celebrating. If you haven’t already listened to their music, now is the time. All three have all released amazing albums in the past year worth checking out like Whack World (Tierra Whack), Anger Management (Rico Nasty), and Fever (Megan Thee Stallion). Congrats ladies!!
