On November 16th, 2021, the Golden State Warriors effortlessly dismantled the superstar-packed Brooklyn Nets, 117 to 99. After a mediocre 39-33 finish to the 2020-21 regular season, the Warriors are now leading the NBA through twenty games with a record of 18-2. In large part to the brilliance of Steph Curry. Folks, the Warriors Dynasty is back! With his health and strength fully intact, Steph Curry is dominating the NBA like he did when he won back-to-back MVPs in 2015 and 2016. Curry hit 9 three-pointers on his way to a 37 point performance in just 29 minutes as he and the Warriors took care of business against the James Harden and Kevin Durant led super team in the Brooklyn Nets. Steph has made a league-leading 98 three-pointers in the first twenty games of the season and is on pace to battle Kevin Durant for the league MVP award. In addition, he is tied with Kevin Durant for the league lead with an average of 28.6 points per game. At 33 years of age, the Warriors are hoping to capture another NBA title before Steph passes his prime and with Klay Thompson returning soon from the ruptured Achilles and torn ACL he suffered over the past two years, the Warriors are primed for an NBA Finals run. The Warrior’s next game was against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, November 18th. The Cavs battled the Warriors in the NBA Finals 4 years in a row from the 2015 season to the 2018 season. Besting the Lebron James led Cavs by three rings to one. Down 13 points in the third quarter, the Warriors and Curry, in particular, went on a tear scoring 36 points in the fourth quarter and limiting the Cavs to only 8 points in the fourth quarter! The Warriors won by 15 points thanks to another excellent 40 point performance from Curry, in which he hit 9 three-pointers in back-to-back games. The following night in Detroit, the Warriors faced the Pistons without Curry, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, and Otto Porter Jr for the first time this season. Standing at 13-2 the Warriors looked to escape Detroit with a win without any of their key veteran players. Filling the absence of Steph Curry was the dynamic duo of twenty-two-year-old guard Jordan Poole and former first overall pick Andrew Wiggins. Poole led the way with 32 points and Wiggins finished second on the team with 27 points as the Warriors eked out a win 105-102. Although the game was very close against a struggling Pistons squad, the Warriors won without their MVP Steph Curry and team leader Draymond Green. Next up the Warriors are hosting the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, November 30th. The Suns stand right behind the Warriors in second place in the Western Conference at 17-3. Following an amazing playoff run which led to an unfortunate loss in the 2020 NBA Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Suns have begun the year on fire and should make for a fitting opponent Tuesday night at Chase Center.
