Since the Spring 2017 quarter has ended, I’ve been doing a number of interviews, trying to help put on these upcoming musicians, especially from the Bay Area. I interviewed Rubber Band Clan’s finest (RBC) Bugzy from Richmond, California. Bugzy has been on the grind & lowkey in the game for a minute, who is waiting […]
About Rizal Aliga
Rizal V. Aliga or DJ RIZZYSTAYDIZZY (RSD) is a 20-year-old Filipino-American from Vallejo, CA. RSD is currently a third-year Legal Studies (Major) & Education (Minor) affiliated with Cowell College. RSD has been at KZSC since early November 2016, first contributing to two blogs along with DJ Elbo, the 2016-2017 Hip-Hop Director. He then later became DJ Elbo's mentee of "Got Rapps?" in Winter 2017.
RSD graduated the Intro to Radio course in Winter 2017. He was the first person to interview the hottest rap group in the world, SOB X RBE on February 4, 2017, receiving recognition by HYPEBEAST, XXL, theFader, & COMPLEX, alongside receiving Volunteer of the (Winter) Quarter, logging 44 hours, the most by an Intro to Radio student (according to DJPK).
In Spring 2017, RSD became the first person to host a student-run Island Reggae show "Highway To Irie" (Saturday's 10PM-12AM), receiving assistance by DJ Mu & DJ MoKat. With that, he interviewed huge artists like Katchafire, Sammy J, Rebel Souljahz, Eli-Mac & Jordan T.
RSD, who also works with UCSC Athletics as the Event Manager, Announcer/DJ/Marketing & Advertisements, recently revived and was appointed the 2017-2018 Sports Director at KZSC, which has been vacant since 2015.
In Summer 2017, RSD co-hosted two shows, "Got Rapps?" with 2016-2017 Hip-Hop Director DJ Elbo & "That's Fresh!" with 2017-2018 Hip-Hop Director DJ Jinx.
In Fall 2017, RSD rolled with four shows "That's Fresh” with DJ Jinx; sometimes "Queen Beats” with DJ Jinx & DJ Kaviar; "Got Rapps?" with DJ Elbo, & revived "Slug Talk.”
In the Winter 2018, RSD discontinued “Got Rapps” and created Vitamin D (R&B) & hosted Slug Talk to put more focus on his academics. However, on January 11, 2018, he and his colleague Austin Duncan became the first pair of commentators ever to do a live play-by-play call on @UCSCAthletics live stream, the FIRST time in @UCSC’s school’s history. They interviewed Coaches, Administration, and student-athletes pregame, during the game, and postgame receiving recognition by UCSC.
In March 2018, RSD was offered to interview the other rising rap group from LA California, Shoreline Mafia. That interview went on to be cited by XXL and Billboard.
In Spring 2018, specifically, the month of April interviewed Oakland rising star ALLBLACK as he continues to run up the numbers in the bay area. RSD continued Vitamin D & joined This Just in From Outdoors collectives but had to let go of the Slug Talk show.
Since then, RSD has contributed to a whopping 95 (audio, video, on-air) interviews, written blogs, & counting! He has been cited by RSD describes KZSC as life-enhancing & has met people he'd never thought he'd meet. Follow him on social media: @rizzystaydizzy or email him firstname.lastname@example.org
